I'll try to make this short with as much detail as possible.Windows 8 unit now more than 2yrs old (Nov 2013) reinstalled original OS just after Windows 10 was released so there would be no issues on installing Windows 10. Prior to upgrade to 10 I made sure all updates for 8 + 8.1 where installed. Installed Windows 10 over freshly done 8/8.1. Decided don't like 10 so did system recovery for 8.1 recovery was less than expected. Issues that came with 10 stuck around. Ok no problem. Have a system disk from Dell so will do a complete reformat and install right? Wrong!
Upon starting process get error message saying "Windows Drive is Missing" Nothing mentioning media driver.
Ok maybe the dvd drive is not responding properly. Run a diagnostics test and everything passed.
Ok check the disk on another unit. Works fine. Ok maybe the dvd drive. Plug in an external dvd drive and try again same thing. 'Windows Driver Is Missing.' Plug the external into the other unit to see if it maybe going bad. Disk works fine with it on other unit. Ok thought. Make an ISO disk and place it on a fresh disk. tried from the iso disk. Same thing. Put the ISO on to a flash drive.
flash drive worked sort of. It would not allow me to wipe out and reformat but to just reinstall.
I want to do a clean reformat upon installation yet cant because of the 'Windows Driver is Missing'
Could Windows 10 have corrupted my hard drive in some way?
Dell Inpiron 15 3521 laptop 13 3227u 1.90GHz 500GB HDD 6GBRAM (store bought)
Again unit is nearly 2yrs old only. So shouldn't be having these type of issues.
I've tried searching Microsoft for an answer even left a post even googled and nothing only for media driver missing.. Can't think of anything I can do that won't cost me money I don't have to correct this issue. Any positive suggestion preferably someone who is an actual certified professional ( no offense to others ) has actually dealt with such an issue.
