What do you mean by "source the installer for my OS?" I used links provided by a Microsoft MVP to refresh/fresh start the OS without bloatware. So the OS came from Microsoft in all cases. The OS originally came with the PC.

Any drivers I updated recently I got from the site of the drive manufacturer.

I don't see a relationship between drivers and sourcing the OS and what's happening now as the last OS
refresh and driver updates took place months ago before any of this happened.

KernelBase.dll seems to be the faulting file in the recent explorer crashes. I've uninstalled some third-party apps that may or may not have used it. What is the easiest safe way to replace KernelBase.dll.
