Running 98se,sp1
After opening explore to download some files from a jump drive I found to my
amazement that at the top of the browser; "file, view, favorites, tools, etc.
were gone. All that is there are the two panes, one on the left and one on
the right. No buttons or anything at the top of the page. My other apps and
programs do not have this happening.
Tried reinstalling IE6, but that did nothing.
Tried file checker but that did nothing.
Everything I've tried comes up with nothing wrong. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Please verify that you are aware that Microsoft Internet Explorer and
Microsft Windows Explorer are two different programs that sometimes
share the same HyperText Markup Language (HTML) interpreter.

File movement and copying is best acomplished with Windows Explorer in
the two pane mode you appear to be describing. In Windows 95, 98, ME and
XP (probably NT, 2000 and 2003 server too) you can easily enter that
mode by typing "E" while holding the Windows logo key. Let us know if
you still don't see the menu bar (the bar with ONLY text on it) after
starting Windows Explorer this way.

While I see options to turn the address and tool bars on and off, I
don't see an option to turn the menu bar on and off. The menu bar
functions are available without the mouse by pressing the alt key
followed by a letter in the menu name(a for favorites, first letter for
file, edit, view, tools and help). Toggleing the tool and address bars
on and off are located on the Toolbars submenu of the View menu.
Hopefully you will be able to use the menu functions that way until you
can get the menu to appear normally.

That article says it's for XP, but I have all the Registry keys
mentioned right here in Win98SE, FWTW.

You're right. I swear I saw 98/SE listed. That's what I get for having too
many windows/browsers open.

Anyhoo, I did remove the values in 98SE and they were rebuilt after opening
Explorer and IE.
