Question Windows File Explorer freezes

Hello, everyone.

I have a system in place, which I don't use too often, maybe once a week. Yesterday I had to realize that when I want to open Windows File Explorer the problem happens in the title. The window has no content (except the bar without folders on the left and the menu) and it loads a certain time until the "explorer.exe" restarts itself.

No new software has been installed, no new hardware has been installed, not even a Windows update has been done. Does anybody have an idea what the problem could be?

(I will not link system information, because the problem is not performance problems, other programs that need more performance or data traffic are working fine).

Try the following:

Use Task Manager or Resource Monitor to observe system performance while running those "other programs".

But do not use Task Manager and Resource Monitor together - just one at a time.

After a few observations to learn what your system is doing and what resources are being consumed then open Windows File Explorer.

Continue your observations and look very carefully for what is happening before and after explorer.exe restarts.

It could be that Windows 10 is indeed looking for and/or trying to do updates. Or some other application could likewise be attempting to do so.

Other tools to use: Reliability History (look for error codes, warnings, even informational events) and Task Manager (look for what is being launched via the Startup tab).

Task Scheduler may even discover something but it takes time and effort to work through all that.

So I have looked at it and can only see paradoxes.
I must mention that the "explorer.exe" does not crash anymore, but it takes a long time to load. (Windows XP Feelings)

The values of RAM, disk and network load do not change. (Once the network load has increased to 30,000 MBit/s, but I have a guess for this). But it is a bit strange with the CPU. The average utilization is 20%. But when I start the Explorer the load drops down to 1%. I can still move the cursor or use other programs.

I was afraid that OneDrive might be the reason for freezing "explorer.exe". So I removed the link between OneDrive and my PC, restarted my computer and ran explorer. Did not help.

Another idea?
There are no updates running in the background.
