The following error showed up on our Win 2003 Server this am.
I have never seen this before.

Windows file protection
Files that are required for windows to run properly have been replaced
by Unrecognized versions. To maintain system stability, windows must
restoreThe original version of these files.
Insert your windows server 2003 standard edition cd-rom now.
Retry more info cancel

Any Ideas what is going on and what do I do next. Ther server apears
to be function properly.

Many Thanks

Ron

Ron,

Two points:
Firstly this is a newsgroup supporting those running the Windows
Millennium operating system rather than Windows 2003 Server.

Secondly, personally I found the system message you posted to be quite
intelligible and self-explanatory unlike many others produced by Microsoft
over the years. Namely the system detected that a system file had been
either updated or damaged and needed to be replaced. This would most
often happen silently with the file being replaced by a copy from the dll
cache however in this case no such backup copy was available and therefore
you were asked to insert the CD so a new copy could be obtained from
there.

Mike:

Thanks for getting back to me! Sorry for posting in the wrong forum.
My eyes are going in my old age. I did not see the ME after Windows.

Thought I was in the Windows Server forum.

What bothers me about the message is what caused it!.

Many Thanks

Ron
