Windows Installation Problem

Hey,

Using a new hdd to install windows 7 ultimate 64 bit and it tells me it can't find any drives to install windows to, even though it used to be the storage drive on another PC that was built less than a year ago without problems.
Never had this happen and I used the disk earlier to install windows and it worked great.
I went through a few tests on startup and the only thing that failed was the S.M.A.R.T test.

Couldn't find any help on forums so far.

I would think that failing the S.M.A.R.T test and Windows not being able to use the drive, would indicate the drive is bad.

I just ran the smart test again and it passed this time, but still isn't recognized.

Is it recognized in BIOS? Is it set as the boot drive?

Try another bootable CD program... like Dban for wiping HDDs. See if it too fails to recognizes the drive.

Was about to get Dban when it said as one of the limitations is RAID hard drives and i saw that my hdd had said "Raid Ready" in the bios. Something else i can use?

If you don't have your system configured as RAID, it should make no difference. Your SATA ports are configured AHCI or IDE, right?
