Hello!

I know that several posts are there with the same title, but my Laptop has gone suddenly verrrry slow. It is so slow that I am not able to do any of the diagnosis steps presented around.

Openning the Task manager, I can see that the CPU is 2%, Memory is 25-30% however, the disk is 100% !!!!!! Even though, the tasks are not using any thing!

Does this mean that it is 100% a HDD failure? Is there a way to fix this ther than changing the HDD?

I have a Toshiba laptop with a Core processor and 4 GB RAM

Solution
Ok then , can you download this : http://crystalmark.info/download/index-e.html - if you are unable in windows ,then try it in safe mode with networking, as I can see that there you can atleast open CMD. This tool will show you the SMART Status from your HDD (will show you if it's failing or not). If it's not failing then you should reinstall the windows.

Can I do that in a safe Mode???

I am not even able tp open CMD

Yes , you can. But remember to run it as an administrator

So for Chkdsk, it kept saying that the volume is in use by another process, so it was scheduled for the startup.

After a restart, chkdsk ran and got stuck in 13%

After a Google search, I will leave it as much as it needs
