So I'm trying to install Windows 7 SP1 onto my computer which currently has no OS installed on it already. The hard drive is an empty 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black. I actually had to clear the disk using Diskpart as it wasn't formatting in the windows Installation window.

This hard drive used to just Store everything on it. My old C drive was an SSD which broke and is now nothing more than a plastic box. So I copied everything from the WD hard drive onto an external hard drive and was going to use that as my new C drive. It is the only hard drive in the computer.

When I click "Next" to install windows onto it it comes back with the error in the title word for word.

How do I get around this? Is there something I'm doing wrong? I really need to Install Windows on that hard drive.

You're trying to install Windows on an external drive? Or is that drive internal and you just copied the files to an external?

When you start the Windows 7 setup, go to drive options, does it show you a partition or blank space there? If you see something, select it and either delete the partition and create a new one, or create one. Then run the setup.
