So I'm having this weird issue lately. At random points my pc's decides to kind of freeze. When i check task manager i notice that the apps im using (browser, discord and sometimes a game im playing) are suddenly suspended.
I checked event viewer and the only error that seems to be there is error 7023:
"
The Windows Error Reporting Service service terminated with the following error:
The paging file is too small for this operation to complete.
"
I suspected there might be a ram issue, but all of my ram passed the memtest86, and i have 16gb so my pc shouldnt be able to use it up.
Also tried running sfc /scannow and DISM.

next time, can you show me screenshots of the tags and I see what I can find. Show me Poolmon screenshots.

To fix the size of your page file, go to that screen again and untick the top choice. that will make all the fields that are greyed out right now, actionable. Go to the No page file choice and choose it. click Set and ok. Probably need to apply it and then restart PC
On restart, retrace your steps back to that screen and tick the top choice again to let windows manage page file and it will also be back to a more logical size.

But we still need to fix it or it will just regrow again.

Alright so it happened again. My apps froze and my screen went black for a second.
So now I reset the paging file by setting no paging file and then restarting, but the size didnt change. This is the these are the poolmon tags that came up when i restarted the pc and ran the program:

problem is, poolmon at startup doesn't tell us anything. startup flushes the memory. Sure, the commitments limit is still at a stupid size. but the actual committed memory is only 6gb.

We sort of need to run it when the memory problem is happening.

Is it random or is it happening when you run a specific program?
Do you hibernate or sleep PC every night? As it it slowly building up over time?
if you do these things, run it every day and maybe we can catch something.

another fix is do a reset or clean install as it might take a while to find the driver this way.

Actually i took a screenshot of right after it happened, but i dont think much will be different. Here:

And no i always shut down my pc completely, so no buildup should occur. These are the programs that were open at the time of it happening:

its 5am, my brain is looking at the numbers and thinking they too big
I will look at thread in a few hours once I wake up.

it appears whatever was using the memory isn't there in screenshots but their traces remain
commitment was 10gb
but peak usage seems to be too big: 67gb which is... 12gb more than your commit total. So what is it doing?

No problem man get some sleep.
Also yes that is quite weird how it had committed more than it should have. Thank you for the dedication nonetheless. Take as much time as you need to respond, this case isnt rly that urgent as it only happens sometimes.

might need to run it once a day and see if we can catch it in the act.
I dont use the pc that much, but i will try.
Also i have noticed that it usually happens after i have been using the pc for 4+ hours, which is weird. Its kind of a pattern i guess. Dont know if that will help but just thought id point it out.

if it happens so fast, you could probably watch it grow in real time.

take screenshots every hour. It should show something,

I would be surprised if it all just grew in one instant, we should be able to see something in those hours before.
