Windows media player problems

So as you might understand by the title I've got some problems with opening video files.
I'm working as a video editor so it's terrible to have something like this.

Can't open video files,I did a research and got some kind codec pack,with that pack I could open the files but they would be without sound and black screen.

have you tried other players? is there a reason you have to use WMP?
I always use the far superior, IMHO, VLC for my media needs.

I haven't,but I'm editing on Sony Vegas all of my videos. Will other media players work on sony vegas aswell?

EDIT: Just downloaded VLC,when I open the files nothing happens. :/

And what format/codec did you use to export the video?
