avgidsha.sys is a driver for the AVG anti-virus program. I've heard that AVG has a known issue blocking SAFE MODE which wouldn't have anything to do with your original problem - it's a general glitch with AVG. It's possible the driver became corrupted. You would need to uninstall the program and reinstall it AFTER you make sure ALL the components have been removed from Windows (including the registry)

avgidsha.sys is a driver for the AVG anti-virus program.

You also mentioned that you wanted to terminate the avgidsha.sys - this can be done in the Task Manager, but if you can't boot up you cannot terminate it.

You might try a system restore or use the F8 option to do a start up repair - use the Last Known Good Configuration option in Advanced Repair Options. If that doesn't work its possible there are bad sectors or missing clusters in the Hard Drive, so try using the command prompt (F8 advanced boot options)

At the command prompt type chkdsk /f and hit enter. It will say something about not being able to do it while the computer is in use and do you want to schedule it on the next start up? Answer Yes and restart the pc. It should automatically do it on the restart. If the space before /f is wrong it will tell you its an invalid prompt so try typing the syntax without any spaces like this: chkdsk/f
The chkdsk /f will locate and attempt to fix or recover bad sectors or clusters by renaming them. It might fix your start up problem and from there you can work on fixing the avgidsha.sys problem. hope this helps.

Solution
After your steps I was able to start up and afterwards remove all AVG components. Thank you for help! Much appreciated.

P.s. To whom ever is reading this - I suggest you not to choose AVG as your anti-viruss software. Have had many troubles with it and you do not wish to experience the same.

Hey Kriksis
I'm so glad it helped get your pc to boot up so you could fix the other problem. I've never been a fan of AVG or Microsoft Security Essentials either.
