Gentlemen,
In 98 and 95 you can use the MSCONFIG command to edit system files, is there a similar command in 2000 used to do the same? Also regarding the system tray in the lower right corner of the screen, where is the file located in order to add or remove startup items?

You can still download the MSconfig program for Win2k and place it in the win32 folder. Just ignore all the initial errors when you run it. You can still remove all that gunk from your startup folder.

Blah, Blah Blahh, Blahh, blahh blah blahh, blah blah.

I posted the exact same question on 05/21. I was directed to a third party program called "Start-up Cop" which you can get via www.downloads.com. I tried it and found that it worked great.
