Windows reinstall nvme

Hey guys. So I banged my pc desk and my pc froze. I just bought a Samsung 960 evo nvme drive. Restarted my pc and windows gets stuck on the load screen. I was able to enter the os via safe mode. Copied all my files off.

My first worry is, is my nvme drive still ok? Hope I haven't damaged it .

Secondly how do I go about reformatting the drive? Should I use a specific software to erase it or do I just load up my windows install and delete the partitions and install windows 10 again.

I've checked the smart stuff on the magician software doesn't seem to be any problems with drive with no critical warnings,no media errors and no temp errors.

Just reload windows 10 and your good to go. It would be difficult for you to damage the drive.

Just go about it as you normaly would when doing a fresh install of windows.

Dont worry. An SSD can take a punsh since there is no moving parts and it would take alot more than banging into the case to break it.

Alright thanks guys, i'll do that. Someone said they did this and the speeds they were getting was much lower than before until he used parted magic and secure erased his 960 evo. Could this be a problem for me??

Not to my knowledge.
I just plugged it in, did a regular format and installed windows 10 and my speeds is spot on.

Oh ok , well im reinstalling the os, lets see. Quick question are running the 960 250gb version as well?

Wish i had the cash at the time to get me the 500 gb . Ok dude i reinstalled the os. Can i pm you the screenshots of samsung magician and crystal disk benchmark since the links aint showing up here. Let me know if im all good?

Sure you can. But... buddy.. dont get so hung up on benchmarks

They really dont tell the whole picture. On paper my 960evo and your is very mutch faster than lets say a 850pro. And that is true if you are moving 1 big file. But for most users and day to day use, you are down to almost the same speeds. You only have alittle higher IOPS over an 850pro

So for me, I know cause of benchmarks that my NVMe is giving me the speeds I should have, but will I ever use the speed since its only my OS disk?? no I would not. Or if I did it will not be often.
