I'm afraid that's the version I was talking about, for IT guys.
I think it will be hard time finding such a setup. Maybe you know how to fix the automatic updates, so I can download it there?

I've used that diownload before. It works fine. I think the auto updates can determine things about your system and give a specified load of apps as well as languages. The download is the full version of SP3 all inclusive. Like I said, I used it before. I even slipstreamed a copy of XP Pro with the download and used that.

Ok, it worked!
The setup didn't even ask anything about networking. The guys over at Microsoft should give their setups more appropriate names :D

Have you considered using SysPrep ?

It will prepare you system to accomodate new hardware without doing a repair install. Make sure you download the correct version for XP.

Basically, it does what others have said, uninstalls your hardware drivers. It then, when booted, goes thru that portion of the repair install that would load your hardware drivers.

It does all those manual things recommended here programically. It's made by MicroSoft for use when deploying a windows image thru out a business to different hardware set-ups.

Thanks again for all the replies.
Got another question about XP though. It's known that is uses the pagefile a lot, especially when playing large games like GTA4.
I was wondering if it will make a difference if you put the pagefile on another drive than the one that is loading the game. Will you gain some performance?

Gaming with 2GB ram now, but it is indeed not enough. Just ordered 4GB (of wich I will use 3.5 but that should be enough).
I tried putting the pagefile on another drive and it didn't gave any improvement as far as I am concerned. However it was an older IDE drive which isn't really a winner when it comes to writing speeds
