Question Windows Running Code Viewer

Many years ago (10+) when I was working in an IT infrastructure department in London someone was using a program that actually displayed what code was currently being executed at a particular time on a windows PC, so for troubleshooting you could see what was actually happening on the PC rather just the often wooley windows error messages. I can't find a similar program for windows 10 having searched extensively on the interweb, does anyone know of a piece of software which can do this? Like I say it literally showed the raw programming code which was running line by line and displayed a massive amount of information.

As for "what is actually being executed": There are several things to be considered:

• your computer executes approx. 1 million operations per second
• at any given moment, there are tens, even hundreds of processes running, each one of them taking turn in "owning" the CPU (or a core, for multi-core CPUs).
