The problen started like this...
My brother was using the pc and it froze then he restarted it then it failed it startup and windows recommended us to use "Startup repair" so we did but it failed to fix it...then we thought it was a major software problem so we thought give it a new windows installtion of Windows 7 Ultimate...

But the installtion failed saying "Windows cannot install requured files.the files may be corrupted or missing... etc" and with an error.

so I tried again after a restart vut the same thing again.. . but this time it didn't find the HDD (Drives to install on).. and getting that error since and I tried some internet fixes but it didn't work.

Things I tried...

Using only one stick of ram

unPlugging and plugging Hdd and Cd/dvd drive back.

Tried to use an usb but didn't boot from it.
tried checking into bios if the hdd was detected and it was... (But sometimes it didn't)
I think the hdd is on its dead bed or the DVD drive is

What could be the problem? and is there a solution to it?
Spec..(very old home pc)
Pentium D e5300
2 gb ram
hd 5450 (Gpu)
and a 450 watt psu
HDD: Samsung HD161HJ
DVD drive:4M-TSSTcorp cddvdw sh-22

Solution
From the issues you posted with detection of drive I would also worry that the drive is on its last legs.
Might I suggest replacing it with an SSD instead. That will make your old Pentium D feel much snapier.
