[SOLVED] Windows shows "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" for Ethernet Controller - - - why ?

Evening all,


Firstly I am a little bit inept when it comes to all things technical.

I am using Windows 11, I just ordered a new PC (Corsair Vengeance). I was tinkering around with my USB flash drive and was using the "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media".
I noticed this in the options, I'm assuming its for my internet but why would I want to eject this? Sort of worried I will click it by accident!



Not sure why this would even appear here, I'm assuming its probably not something you would be ejecting on any frequent basis.

what motherboard do you have?

there is possibly a setting in bios to stop that from happening.
My PC thinks my hdd is removable but well, that isn't accurate. Its just a bios setting most likely.

PCIe is technically hot swappable, so depending on what your BIOS setting is and/or what the driver is reporting to Windows, Windows will think you can hot swap it.

Yeah, I ran the windows updates for windows 11 and noticed after reboot that it was no longer showing in taskbar as removal so I assume it was a setting in windows 11 that got addressed in a more recent update 🙄
