Windows Stuck blue

I have a laptop from a friend but when I load Windows it just gets stuck in the blue screen with the green leaf and white bird.

Just sits there for ages doing nothing the mouse Pointer moves but that's all.

Dell Inspiron 1545

How did you turn it off last time? Did you shake or jolt the laptop in anyway?

They said it worked fine until they replaced it with a new battery :-s

I can't even get into safe mode it loads up with the writing but then just stops with the writing on the screen and crashes

I don't think it's a power issue as it does the same with the power supply connected and no battery

Did they pull the battery straight out after using the laptop as that can damage any computer as there is still left over current in the pc. That's why with my desktop I turn the pc off I wait five minutes then turn of the psu from its switch then turn off at the wall then unplug then press the pc power button a few times to discharge any left over electricity before I open it up for whatever reason. I eve have the pc on a piece of wood as I have a carpet in my room, I didn't want any static created from me walking on the carpet to pass to me pc.

Then youre in trouble, make sure you dont have any precious data on the laptop, and dont try to do system restores as that can kill it

Any program on Hirens Boot CD I could use to test further?

Just take it to your local PC Specialists, I can't and I don't recommend doing anything further on, if the HDD is going to die.

New hard drive I presume.

Nah M8, I'm no specialist at recovering stuff... No offence to anyone here but some people on this forum need to get out, as they don't know what the hell they're doing. New HDD probably would be in order, but take it to the specialists if you have really important data that isn't backed up.

Data is backed up but sounds to me the harddrive is near enough dead.

Maybe someone who doesn't get out knows the answer ha

I told you, to not do that, that will further damage the HDD

Doesn't really matter there's nothing important on the hard drive - j guess it's FUBAR.
