In other news, I am reading this article, while waiting for the server room to cool down, from a cool 50 celcius after all the AC units blew. using 5 industrial super fans blowing air into the hallway of office thus creating windtunnel, lol yah.... fun,.... eyes burning,... must sleep....but must save .. servers.

If I had a supercomputer like this, I would try to run simulations of mouse brains on it... then cat brains... then have the virtual cat chase the virtual mouse... then chimpanzee brains... then human brains. And then I'd upload, earn billions through the internet, launch a distributed network running my brain into space and I don't know, travel somewhere.

LOL you linux fanboys are really eating this up. You know if MS really wanted to they could totally move in and wipe the floor with Linux. They simply don't see any reason to.
Think about it. . . they've got an entire army of some of the best programmers on the planet. Microsoft can accomplish some amazing things when it really wants to.

The problem MS has is that in addition to improving their software, they also have to think how to keep their consumers tied to their technology (Direct3D, .Net, .docx etc). In the course of doing that they lose to developers that simply focus on providing better software.

there is no such thing as a secure virus free OS. there is no such thing as a secure anything in the digital age, all it takes is a sufficiently motivated person with the right hardware to bypass any kind of encryption or security.

My former supervisor's favorite saying...which I believe came from the comedian Ron White is "You can't fix stupid"...and that's part of the problem with computers. Too many stupid users. Remove the stupid users and you remove the security problems.

True, but there are varying degrees of stupid a user has to be depending on which OS they are using, they don't have to be very stupid at all to get a virus in windows.

Nothing new, Linux is best suited for serious research that will change the world, while windows is best suited for .... gaming. I too use Linux at work & windows at home (for gaming, if I have to access my bank account I boot-up my Linux)

They are very happy cos their old computer runs faster on Linux and, more important, stop annoying me with virus issues. They use computers basically for e-mail, store pictures & internet. You don't need a new computer for that, and of course you don't need windows.
