Question Windows update bricked my pc and my pc is in startup repair, please help

Hello, yesterday night when i shut down my pc, it asked for "update and shut down" and i clicked it

Today morning my pc started by saying diagnosing pc and attempting repair, i tried to reset my pc from the recovery mode but it said reseting pc failed.

Now i put the genuine windows 8 cd in my pc and in my bios i selected dvd drive for booting as 1st priority, but my pc is going back to the recovery mode i.e startup repair

What do u guys think problem is
What should i do, please help

The first thing we need to know is whether this system was actually running Windows 8 or Windows 10.

That's completely unclear.

There are two things I can think off off hand. 1st, try tapping the f12 button during the boot which will give you a one time boot menu. If that doesn't work, disconnect your hdd/ssd, wait until your PC starts boot from your CD, then reconnect your drive.

I bought my pc with windows 8 and upgraded to 10. Now this problem occured

If you have access to another computer, you should download the MS media creator and create a Windows 10 installer.. https://forums.tomshardware.com/faq/how-to-do-a-clean-installation-of-windows-10.3170366/

If the machine is already on Windows 10, and you know it is and has been bootable in to Windows 10, then you do NOT want to be using Windows 8 media, period.

as a starting point.

You may eventually need to do a completely clean install, but it's worth trying other less aggressive options first.

But i tried all options in windows recovery mode , i.e system restore, system image restore, reset pc without and with removing the data.


Actually now i am trying to install windows 8 , but it is saying " a media driver your computer needs is missing. This could be a dvd usb or hard disk driver" what should i do

Right now, i clicked the option "repair your computer" and tried to refresh my pc. It is saying " the drive where windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again"

Were you using any drive encryption software?

Things are looking, more and more, like a completely clean install is where you're heading.

You should connect what is the system drive in the troubled machine as an external drive to another and extract any precious data you might want to keep (if you don't already have a regular backup protocol in place and already have the data backed up).
