[SOLVED] Windows will not allow me to install the OS

I recently got a new processor, motherboard, and case.

I5 6400 to i5 6600
Predator g3-710 motherboard to ASUS maximus VIII hero motherboard
G3-710 predator case to NZXT H500 case

I finished installing all the parts and the last thing i have to do is install the OS system. I have been attempting to install it via a USB recovery of windows 10, which microsoft provides here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 and everytime i am attempting to boot on my USB stick it keeps saying that there is an issue with my pc and that it needs to restart, there are some times where it manages to boot up on the windows 10 installer where the screen becomes purple but as i click the install button it just again says that the pc has to restart.

As i have kept my old hard drive and had not fully formatted it, i do not know if that is the reason windows is not allowing me to install the OS. I think that because the hard drive already has windows 10 installed and im still attempting to use it and boot whilst having it in, whilst im attempting to boot up the recovery USB the drivers of both drives are clashing of some sort. Maybe some are corrupt i dont know. I also do think that maybe there are specific motherboard settings that may help do the installation.

If photos would help i am happy to provide them.

winload.efi is only going to be in one place at that stage of install, on the USB drive. Have you tried another USB drive? Try making a new installer on a new USB

@ op: your link is to the media creation tool that creates the windows installer, not so much a recovery USB though it can be used for such a purpose.

All these restarts are a worry, that sounds like a hardware problem as you shouldn't get those warnings on a USB boot. Only restart should happen half way through install process, not right at start.

you can wipe the hdd by doing this and see if it lets you get further into installer on a blank drive -
boot from installer
on screen after languages, choose repair this pc, not install.
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose command prompt
type diskpart and press enter
type list disk and press enter
this shows all drives available, DVD/USB and hdd, make note of hdd number
type Select disk X - where X is the number of the hdd you want to wipe, change X to that number and press enter
once the drive you want to wipe is chosen, type Clean

You may also need to buy windows 10 again. Acer, the makers of your previous PC, have special OEM licences that only work on their PC so if you try to use the license on a new PC it may not activate. Do you know if your last PC was linked to an email address you registered windows 10 with Microsoft with? If so, go here and login to your account. Click on show details under PC name. and then click on device info and support - does it show old PC? You may ne able to move it to new PC, have a look here for info on moving licence to new PC - link

It isn't even booting as far as that, which is one of the reasons which i think their might be a config on the motherboard, or even an issue with the hard drive because it has windows 10s drivers on it already.

I have already bought a windows 10 pro key which i'll be able to enter in the windows 10 installation.

did you change ram? is ram on new motherboards compatibility list?

run memtest on your ram sticks, it creates bootable USB so no need for windows to run it - Try running memtesst86 on each of your ram sticks, one stick at a time, up to 8 passes. Only error count you want is 0, any higher could be cause of the restarts. Remove/replace ram sticks with errors.

I don't think its hard drive, as it shouldn't be involved at the point where you say to install win 10, it doesn't look at drives until it is ready to install onto them. That is a few steps into the install process. When you click install it should be running off ram only. Does hdd show up in the BIOS?

Brand new motherboard should be configured to boot off USB and install windows without you needing to change any settings. Its how they come from factory.

the hard drive does show up in the bois, and i have checked that the ram is compatible with the motherboard, multiple times.

what are rest of PC parts?

have you tried a bare minimum install? just 1 stick of ram, CPU, motherboard, hdd, run display off motherboard. Try to reduce parts and see if it gets any further
tried to run it outside case?

tried another USB drive?

Power supply - corsair cx650m
HDD - wd 1tb
GPU - 1060 6gb
Ram - 4x2 corsair LPX 2400

I have attempted to run it off the motherboard and i have had no hope with the boot, exact same outside of the case since i did that when i first got the parts.

I have used a different USB port and same result, and i have also disconnected the HDD and tried it and still the exact same result.

But the file name the is apparently missing is called winload.efi, but same error code - 0xc0000225

could it not be some of the options in the bios? like csm and fast boot

i think it is my memory now as with different memory out of the current 3 ram sticks i have reaches different parts of windows each time, also the memtest86 thing can't even work as it won#t load it up fully without it crashing. So im certain its a ram issue so im going to buy some new ram hopefully
