Windows won't install any drivers

So I was browsing on my laptop 2 days ago when the wifi suddenly went out. Normally I click "troubleshoot" in the network icon and the problem is solved by windows. But now even after downloading drivers from my laptop manufacturer's website and trying to install, win 8.1 gives me this error. http://imgur.com/22hxeCE

Only the ethernet controller worked (cable to router). Which I unwisely uninstalled and now the same error with that one too (windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error... The request is not supported). Bought a USB wifi adapter and it gets detected as an unknown device which gets the same error when I try to install drivers. Then I tried connecting my phone through USB and it refuses to install drivers for it too even though it worked normally before. Tried a flash drive and that first gets detected as unknown device and after I update driver software automatically gets classified as a disk drive that doesn't show up in my computer.
ATTEMPTED SOLUTIONS: tried sfc scan now, disabling driver digital signature enforcement, taking out the battery, putting USB inf and pnf files on the windows/INf folder. Nothing works. Last resort is reinstalling windows. But I wonder if there's anything I haven't tried.
TL;DR windows 8.1 doesn't let any drivers be installed and gives an error message.

Have you tried a do a system restore to a early date before all this happen? it may do the trick if you used a usb wi fi adapter it should of worked but it seems your usb ports went haywire as well.

How old is your laptop? I know Microsoft is disabling support for newer drivers on newer systems for windows 8(.1). Try downloading older drivers, or drivers for a similar motherboard/laptop, yes this will still work most of the time.

Other than that yes, system restore or clean install. Usually doesn't take as long as it used to.
