would there be any reason to go with windows 7 if all Im doing is playing games? as I really dont like the boot times and app loads of windoze 7, not to mention its installation size.

Yes windows 7 is the way to go if you want to play the latest games. Win xp only supports dx9. And many games like Bf3 require you to have atleast dx10. Moreover games like crysis 3 and the upcoming bf4 require you to have atleast dx11 and so wont run on Win xp. So I would suggest you to go ahead and get win7.

hey, maybe you could solve a couple more issues/questions about this P.O.S. operating system...lol

Im using an old 5400rpm 2.5" Hard drive for windows 7 and theres a huge difference in application load times compared to when I was dual booting it with a 2011 macbook pro using bootcamp, it is just slow as a snail on this i7

Also for some reason my clock never seems to set properly, the time zone is correct but I have to update it whenever I boot into it.

I think the slow boot times are due to the slow hard drive. Defragmenting the hard drive may help in increasing the speed and reducing load times.

And to answer your other question, every computer has a small chip called the CMOS(short for Complimentary Oxide Semiconductor) with a small battery soldered into the motherboard. This chip keeps a track of the time and date when the computer is switched off with the help of the small battery. When the computer is turned on the bios sends this information about the time and date to windows. This is how windows remembers the time and date and how much time has passed since the last shut down even without connecting to the internet.

In your case I think there is a problem with either the CMOS or the battery attached to it.

Hope it helps.....:)
