I recently bought a new desktop computer for my home. It came with Windows XP
Home Edition with SP2 installed. I want to update it to Windows XP Pro. So I
went out and purchased a Windows XP Pro upgrade. This store didn't have any
copies with SP2 already, so I purchased it without, thinking I would go to
SP2 after I get it updates. When I got home, I tried to install Windows XP
Pro and I got a message that the files on the computer are newer and it won't
let me install Windows XP Pro.
The store won't return opened software, of course, and I don't want to waste
$200 by going somewhere else and buying another Windows XP Pro w/SP2 license.
Is there any way for me to take the contents of the original Windows XP Pro
CD and combine them with the contents of the SP2 and create a new Windows XP
Pro w/SP2 CD. I hope then that it will allow me to upgrade the Windows XP
Home Edition to Windows XP Pro.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
