Boot Problem with Windows10

Hello everyone,

I got a really weird problem : Yesterday I shuted down my computer as usual, and today by pure magic, when I launch it, I got a message :

"Reboot and select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected boot device and press a key"

It's not my first time seeing this message (back when I installed win10, I got a bit familiar with the boot menu of my BIOS). But after several tests (even with the famous UEFI/Legacy issue), nothing at all seems to work. The strange thing is that nothing was different between the two boots, and I don't remember windows installing an update when I closed it yesterday. The BIOS still finds the HDD with windows10 and it's still the number one boot device for him. I'm really stuck here, any help?

Solution
Hi there Colinjojo,

The drive is recognized by BIOS right?
I believe you can try to run startup repair. If this sorts the issue out, it may be a good idea to back up the important data stored on the drive.

After that, you can use a brand specific or a third party one testing tool, so you can see if the drive is in a healthy state.

Cheers,
D_Know_WD :)

Thanks D_Know_WD, I partly used your answer. I managed to get a key with W10 and booting from this key allowed me to enter the repair center. From here Windows located the error and repaired it. A friend of me who is a real ace in computers told me it might be a worm (looking from previous bugs). Anyway, thanks, subject closed.
