I have recently picked up a used computer from a garage sale that had the power supply and hard drive removed from it. I replaced the power supply, and moved 2 hard drives from my old computer to the recently purchased computer. Now I can get into the bios but I am unable to get anything to boot up past bios. I have purchased a windows 10 key but I can not get the disk to install windows 10. Any help would be great. The new purchase is an alienware computer that is about 7 years old.

Maybe you can go to Microsoft and sign up for the Windows Insiders Program. I'm a member and it's free. Once you do that you can get window 10 download ISO for free. Burn it to disk or extract to flash drive and then install Otherwise, do you have an older version of windows that you could install? Try installing that to see if it works.

I would start by putting only the drive that you want the operating system on. Where did you get the CD/DVD from? You said you bought the CD key, did it come with the installation disc? Where did you get the disc? Usually when booting from disc you have to hit any key to boot from CD. Did it ask you that or does it just say booting from disc and then goes blank?

CD was picked up from Ebay. And I have pushed a button and it just stays on that screen. And I have tried not pushing the button which it goes blank after a bit.

No need for the Insider program.
Anyone can create a USB or DVD install for Win 10, for free.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

It just won't be activated, until you purchase a valid OS license.

Thanks USAFRet. I couldn't find the link when I looked. That's a MUCH better way to get it!
So OP, get it from there and follow previous instructions. Just make sure that the copy you download is the same one as the key you have. Windows 10 Pro, home or enterprise. And I'm going under the impression that it's going to be 64 bit in today's world but BE SURE lol.
