Wire length confusion

if i used 80m of patch cable to connect my patch panel, and 12m to connect to my hub, how long can my patch cables to my workstation be? 8? my understanding would be 100m because the hub would act like a switch.

Correct. 100m max without power involved. Add some form of power, like a hub or switch, and gain another 100m.
