Hi it's been the second day since my desktop can't connect to the internet through wired connection. All these while I had my desktop connect directly to my router. My desktop shows: "Local area connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration." I have tried many ways to get it working but to no avail. Here is a list of what i have tried doing:

- Reset modem and router
- restart my computer
- Used Google DNS
- Manually typed in IP address
- reset ipv4 and ipv6 through command prompt
- Used different cable and a laptop (same problem can't connect through wired)
- Disable ipv6
- Tried different ports on the router

I am beginning to wonder if it's my router fault. I can't confirm though. Anyone has any idea how to fix this problem? I am running on windows 7 64 bit and using starhub infinity. The router brand is Huawei which starhub provides.

My desktop connects to the router while my router is connected to the modem.

Sorry I don't really get what you mean here. :/ I had an Ethernet cable connected from the router to my desktop. Therefore I am connecting it through the router i guess? Sorry I am not really a pro IT person. :(

your lan connections is not getting an ip address, the current ip address 169.254.203.29 is an appipa address( an address your computer assigns it self then it cannot get an ip from the dhcp server) in the comand prompt type "ipconfig /release" then type "ipconfig /renew"

can you go into your routers config and check how many devices you have connected ?? you might not have a lease expiration date on your dchp so it might be saving all ips for new devices

Install the driver for your wired Network Adapter. If you have a name brand computer (HP, Dell etc) go to the manufactures support/download drivers page and type in your service tag# or your make and model# and download the Network Adapter/Ethernet driver for your computer.

I have been using wired connection for the pass one and a half year. I had no problem until recently. So I doubt its the driver problem.

My router dhcp lease duration is set to one day. Only my desktop use wired connection; my router has 4 LAN ports, only one port is in use. The rest of the devices like laptops and mobile phones connects through wireless.

Everyday when I on my desktop I hope it connects but everyday it shows me unidentified network, no network access. And windows keeps telling me "Local area connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration." whenever I try to retify. :(

Yes, I have done that a lot of times but to no avail. Starhub said they will get back to me but as usual no reply. Anyway, I seriously thinks its the router fault now.
