Wired connection not working on Ubuntu 15.04

I have a PC with 2 hard drives. My 2TB HDD has Windows 8.1 and everything works fine. My PC has both a wired and wireless connection. On the second hard drive (1TB) I have Ubuntu 15.04 installed (at one time I had Linux Mint, still had the same issue.) My wired or wireless connection will not connect, but they are both detected (I have networking enabled). I am still a huge amateur with Linux, so I need help ;_;

Did you install drivers, enable them, try assigning an IP address?

what drivers would I install?

You would figure out what chipset the Ethernet and wifi chip and make sure there are drivers in the OS for it.
