I have trouble setting up my wireless ad hoc network.
I have a desktop that has no internal wireless adapter. Instead I used a USB Wifi Adapter (Netgear WNDA3100v2).
Since then, I use a Powerline Adapter to connect the desktop via Ethernet. However, I want to now use the USB Wifi Adapter to act as a access point.
Basically I want the Wifi Adapter to take the internet data from the wired desktop, and transmit it as an access point or ad hoc so that anybody near that adapter can connect to the internet wirelessly.
I am running a Windows 8 system.
+ I have tried using netsh commands via cmd and they say that the hosted network could not be started and that the device is not in the correct state to handle.
+ I have tried toggling on and off allowed sharing for the wireless adapter.
+ I have tried bridging the wifi and the ethernet connection and then trying to start the hosted network via cmd. Still no luck.
+ I have tried using the network software that comes with the Netgear adapter, however, their ad hoc can be active only if I am connected to the network wirelessly. (I do not want to repeat wirelessly because the wifi signal is weak, I want to repeat it from the ethernet connection from the powerline because I get a faster and stable connection)
I am at a loss, I don't know how to get the system in the "correct state" in order for the ad hoc to work. Is there a step I need to take in order for the system to recognize the wifi adapter? I know it shows up and works properly in device manager, and works flawlessly on its own so what do I have to do for it to be seen as an access point?
