Wireless Adapter Question (noob)

Good day.

I am currently connected to my desktop via a pcie wireless network adapter. my connection, on mouse over shows 54.0 mbps.

Question:
will buying an "up to 300 mb/s" wireless adapter improve my connection speed? or will it not, since my connection is only 18 mb/s and 54 mb/s is more than enough.

Where are you getting the 18mb/s number from? For internet connection, 54mb/s is plenty fast. You might benefit from the 300mb/s if you are connecting to other computers in your house and want to transfer large files.

hi gurduloo. i am getting it from our internet plan with our ISP. i do not wish to transfer large files etc. i am just concerned with the overall connection speed with browsing gaming etc.

also is there any particular speed advantage when it comes to usb 2.0 vs. pci?
