Wireless connection - computer wont connect to wireless

I have a Sony vaio that won't connect to wireless. There is a local connection. Any ideas please?

First off, I'd suggest making sure the wireless on the laptop is actually on.

Other than that, we'd need a lot more info here.

The wireless is on and I have restored the computer to factory settings in case something I have installed has created the problem. I am not very computer literate- what other information would be useful?
