What I'm looking for is an HDMI transmitter that I can have in my work's conference room. I want it to be able to transmit HDMI over it's own private band, i.e. not over wifi. The ideal goal would be to hang it up on a ceiling tile in the room, then have a cable running to the receiver in the closet. Then the people in the conference room could pass around a wireless dongle that allows them to connect to our high-def flat-screen. Quality of signal and clarity of picture are a big factor, as they will be looking at CAD models and drawings. Thanks for your help!

While many of the 60GHz systems are quite expensive, there are a few that are not and work well like THIS, but they don't work with a USB dongle, they need the transceiver to attach with HDMI and despite what they say you really need a line of sight for 60GHz to work well.

There are also many reasonably priced 5GHz range wireless HDMI kits, but they all have a similar arrangement using an HDMI connection to the transceiver box. The units that I've seen with USB connectors are junk IMO, and are very selective as to what notebooks will connect.
