wireless mouse sony vaio vgn cr21s

You need to post some details about the issue. Exact error messages, did you test the mouse on another system, what you tried so far, etc....

With how you asked the question it could be anything from "the mouse is still in the box" to "a meteor hit you and crushed both your arms so you can't hook the mouse up".

my answer: it's an electronic logitech mouse. CD MouseWare 9.7 (Windows XP, ME, 2000, 98, NT, 4.0, 95). I bought it end 2003. I now use a sony vaio vgn cr21s laptop. I put the mouse CD in, absolutely nothing happens. The disc just spins makes a noise nothing comes up on the screen at all. This laptop is windows vista family edition and I updated it last week to SP2 to put on my Bitdefender All Security 2015. I have no error messages. I am a novice!

So what actually does not work is the CD not the mouse. Did you hook up the mouse? It should detect it fine without any programs, the program is there to help you configure the buttons and maybe for a bit better tracking than stock Window drivers.

That old program version likely won't work well your new computer anyway. You can get the latest one from Logitech's support website, or just use the mouse without the software. www.logitech.com there will be a support link there that will ask you what mouse you have and guide you to the proper software.

If the mouse does not work at all, if it's wireless I'd first check the batteries and replace those, and also test the mouse with another computer to see if it's the mouse causing the issue or the computer.

open device manager and look for "!"- or "?"- marks

USB driver of your Sony installed? Chipset drivers up to date? (sony website)

Which logitech wireless mouse is it? Normally a label with its model name is placed under the mouse. Could be gone through time, but would be very helpful for finding the right drivers on Logitech.com

If the old batteries were in there for a long time they could have corroded the inside of the mouse. Were the old batteries in good shape where you removed them? No white powder inside the battery compartment? If you plug in the USB dongle does the computer see that something was inserted and tries to use it?
