Wireless router and adapter

Hello,
I have a wireless router I hooked up to my computer and a wireless adapter hooked up to my Directv HD receiver. I have an internet connection but not a wireless connection. What can I do to get a connection?

log into your router and setup your wireless security.

then with your wireless network card enabled find your wireless network and connect. enter the key phrase when being asked for it
