Hi,
I’ve got a tp link td_w8951nd router for a long time which used to work properly. However, last few days Wireless went off (Wireless LED is off and can’t find the wireless network on my PC) -I still can connect my PC to the internet by using ethernet cable from PC to the router-.
I tried to enable it by pressing the wifi button on the back of the router, but it didn’t respond.
I tried to enable it in the setup interface page, but the wireless submenu that used to exist in the setup interface has disappeared... (SO Now, the interface setup menu has only 2 submenus: Internet and LAN).
I upgraded the firmware and restored the router to factory settings, and when I tried to configure it again by using the quick start, an error message came out:” ERROR: FAIL TO UPDATE DUE TO... IP format error.” And yet I was still able to connect to the internet, but wireless still off and wireless settings submenu didn’t appear.
I ran the setup on the CD that came with the router, it succeeded in configuring the router but the same problems didn’t solve (wireless is off, and no wireless submenu).
I’ve read all the articles, answers and FAQ on the internet but nothing worked out, please help me with this!

Solution
There are two possibilities here. One is that the wifi hardware has died in the router. The other is a hung firmware in the router.

I would try to reinstall the latest firmware in case it is possibility #2. If the issue remains, than it is a hardware failure, and I would plan on a new router.
