I have RJ 11 Ports all around my house, even though they are useless to me. Could I change that port to an RJ 45 port, as there are a lot of extra colored wires in the back that are similar to a RJ 45 wire. If I do that, could I send a signal from my router to my basement, where all the other ends of the wires are and hook all of them up to the connection using a switch. In conclusion, I would like to change all my ports in my house to RJ 45 and connect all of them to the internet using a switch, which is connected to my router.
Edit: I realised that only one port in my house has cat 5e wired to it, and it is the worst possible location. Since every other port has 2 cat3 wires connected to it, can I somehow make that work as a 1 gigabit ethernet?
