hi guys,
i started witcher 3 today...and while im honestly being blown away by its graphics...default high on my system...i was wondering whether i need to play the previous two to proceed with this?is this a direct sequel?...ive just played the first dream sequence where there's yennefer and ciri and the wild hunt was introduced...is there a story linking these characters in the previous installments?

Thanks in advance for the help...

(P.S.my system config is 3gb ddr2 ,c2d e7400 and msi gtx 750 2gb...i get 35 fps+ at 900p high...crazy right?)

Naturally your experience of the Story/campaign and world will be fuller and laced with hidden gems if you played the others...

If you can really discipline yourself to play the other two (well over 100+ hours of gameplay) before proceeding...do it.

However it is by no menas KEY to this game's enjoyment, as the story is actually padded and the weakness imo. It is the gfx, compbat, sidequests etc that really shine

friggin hell...100+ hours???
and here i was thinking shadow of mordor ,which at 19 hours of gameplay, was the most time consuming game ive ever played...

im gonna ask you another thing and i hope youll understand...im really a huge fan of subtle love stories within a game...so are the characters yennefer and ciri in the previous ones?and the wild hunt?
(i know i might come across as silly but still...)

I won't spoiler it...sorry.

If you sprint it, you can get there quicker, however to enjoy the games, you need to spend time learning the combat etc and playing sidequests, imo.

Maybe find a synopsis of those games on youtube somewhere at least.

Will say this: Witcher 3's campaign is essentially based around him getting the girl back and nothing else.

Hi gsen, I'm a big Witcher series fan so I might be a little biased when I say you should definitely try he older titles out. The first one's dialogue is a bit spotty and honestly the story doesn't do much for me. Also the combat system is rhythm based which I find God awful, but for it's time it was pretty good. The Witcher 2 still holds up as a great game even by today's standards. I'd recommend going through that one for sure. Also check out the books and graphic novels/comics if you have the time. they are fantastic.

Jimmo,

Here i was enjoying the amazing visuals of the witcher 3 and now you guys tell me to stop that and go back 4 years? arghhhhh...

but no...thanks to you both for the tips...i appreciate it...could you give me a link or something to those comics?

Thanks

WHAT THE HELL!! I have the same config as yours but the GPU is crappy old r7 240. If I get a gtx 750, will witcher 3 perform the same for me?
PS - Can you please post some screenshots or a video so I can see the performance. Thanks

well the fps was that...but since my cpu was a dual core and my ram a ddr2,i encountered a lot of stutters...but it was playable...anyway ive changed my config to an i5 4440 and vengeance 8gb (performance even better now,i can put many settings to ultra) so sorry,i cant upload the videos you require
