With a seemingly dead motherboard after a power surge will a onboard speaker even beep?

I had a power surge resulting in what I believe is a dead mobo. My pc will not even attempt to power on. Will a onboard speaker even sound a beep code? Before anyone asks I installed a new PSU with no change. Reset my BIOS. Attempted to manually power on from the motherboard with a small screwdriver. No changes at all. The mobo power led is on, it's the only sign of life in the beast. Its a MSI x79a-gd45 plus

I was thinking that might be the case. Any other suggestions to r/o my mobo or other parts before I purchase a new one to try a switch out? If not do you have a good suggestion to replace the MSI X79A-GD45 Plus, or would you suggest I get the exact same one?
