As of Fifth Dawn, Wizards of the Coast has decided to prohibit their
distributors from selling to all internet companies and secondary
distributors. This will cause many internet companies to close, and
drastically increase the price of Magic, as you may have already
noticed if you've attempted to order a prerelease Fifth Dawn box.

Well, the message didn't seem to indicate a total ban, but just a
ban on companys who sell primarily via the internet. Not that I
support the move, but it doesn't mean you won't be able to get
singles on-line anymore, just that your choice of sources may be
narrowed.

Can anyone else confirm this, and the reasoning behind it?

No. I can't find any other Internet retailer with anything to say on this
subject.

I've been in direct contact with Wizards and other online retailers.
This just happened recently, so its probable that we've been the first
to act, but all of the major retailers we've spoken to have also been
banned. Here is an excerpt from my correspondance with Mark Jordan,
VP of Sales, at Wizards of the Coast:

"A primary goal of Wizards of the Coast is to provide great lifestyle
games that encourage community and interaction among players. Wizards
has determined that our products and customers are best served by
distribution through physical store locations. For this reason,
Wizards has determined that our products should only be sold in
stores, which conduct a majority of their business through their
physical retail location."

Obviously I can't "confirm" it through my word alone, so I encourage
you to call whatever online retailer you generally use, or Wizards
itself.

I think there was some mention of it on Starcitygames.com , and they
mentioned that they weren´t affected since they´re store-based.
