"WLAN Extensibility Module has failed to start" crashing my computer (I think?)

I keep getting this error in my event log right as my computer crashes:

WLAN Extensibility Module has failed to start.

Module Path: C:\Windows\system32\Rtlihvs.dll
Error Code: 126

The Wireless LAN driver I have *may* be the culprit, but I have no idea. I recently did a factory reset of my computer and have had numerous errors with crashing and drivers. After fixing a BSOD dpc_watchdog_violation loop of crashes due to missing drivers (because MSI sucks at giving correct drivers for their motherboards), and gpu overheating crashes, this arises. Any fixes?

I had this trouble with an Edimax nano USB WiFi dongle on an old 32-bit laptop.
Windows gave me version 1027.4.630.2015 of the driver. After installing some Windows updates in March 2019, the WiFi kept failing with the message "wlan extensibility module has failed to start. error code 126" in the event log.
I installed the Windows 8 drivers, version 1021.0.716.2012, this seems to cure the problem. Hope this helps somebody. The steps are:
  • Go to the Windows Update Catalog and search for VID_7392&PID_7811
  • Click on the description in the left hand column to check whether 64 or 32 bit
  • Download the appropriate CAB file, extract and install manually
