Wolfenstein Black Screen Startup

I recently installed Wolfenstein: The New Order wanting to play it. Sadly, the game seems to be having issues. I run the .exe file, takes a bit then pops up with a black screen. I hear a tiny, short, little blip of sound, then nothing. It just stays on a black screen forever. I can exit out by pressing the escape key, which makes the "This application seems like it is not responding" popup. By pressing close, it closes.

I have tried many things to fix it: updated my graphics, directX, and vcredist; changing the .exe file name to "..._32"; trying a fix from gamecopyworld.com; adding a graphics cache in %localappdata% (I noticed this one actually had something appear in the folder, still changed nothing though).

My computer has an Intel Core i5-3320M CPU @ 2.60GHz and 8 GB of RAM. It has 5 GB of free space, so it isn't a problem of storage. Please help if you know what is wrong.

It shouldn't be hard to understand, either, that practically every person who was every found to be holding stolen property claimed somebody gave it to them too. In this case, as in those, not knowing where it came from and having possession is the same as if you did know. Ignorance is not a defense when it comes to receiving stolen property and it's not one regarding trying to use illicit torrented games or patches either, even if as you say somebody else gave it to you.

If your friend robbed a bank and gave you a thousand dollars, you STILL have a thousand dollars of stolen money and would still be going in front of a judge who would convict you for having possession of it. Not knowing makes little difference and certainly doesn't...
Incorrect. I have posted countless issues and problems without them knowing where exactly it was installed and have gotten perfectly good answers. I see your inability to come up with an actual answer and your great ability to whine over an unknown piece of information as important as what I ate for breakfast this morning. I respond respectfully with, "shut up".
If anyone else has an actual answer, please speak up.

First of all, you don't tell other members, especially not members of the moderation team who volunteer their time and go to great lengths to try helping people as well as keeping the forum free of spam, trolls and site problems, to shut up. It's disrespectful, whether it's a regular member or a moderator.

Secondly, the question he asked is extremely valid, as it's highly likely your game was sourced through an illegal torrent download almost certainly, which is why you are resistant to answering that simple but valid question. The reason it is valid, is because large numbers of torrented game and program downloads are either infected, incomplete or just plain broken. Assuredly, not all of them, but a great many. This is an unimpeachable fact.

Not only that, it's illegal, and helping with illegal content such as unofficial torrented downloads of copyrighted material is against our forum guidelines. For the simple fact of that alone I would normally close this thread. Compounded by the fact that you lack the common courtesy and respect for the very people that make this site possible by telling others to shut up and not whine, while the only whining I see is coming from your direction, leaves me little choice but to close this thread and issue a warning.

The "normal way" is through Steam. Even if you purchase a retail copy. Per Bethesda themselves:

Q: Do I need a Steam account to install Wolfenstein: The New Order or Wolfenstein: The Old Blood?

A: A valid steam account is required to install the game on PC.

So if you are not using Steam and are using "fixes" from Gamecopyworld, a site known to be utilized for software pirating although the sites main goal was to allow no CDs in the old days, the most likely answer is that you have downloaded a pirated copy of the game from a Torrent and it is either infected or a faulty copy. I suggest you purchase a legitimate copy from Steam, Humblebundle or GMG. However in the end you will still need a Steam account to play it.

Well, since you guys are so obsessed with where i got this game, I'm not entirely sure. I got it from a friend, as a gift. Also, I do indeed know gamecopyworld is known for that. But they do have fixes that have helped me before for perfectly legal games.

Then your friend gave you a bad copy because per Bethesda the game requires a Steam account for the PC version. If you want to play it then your best bet is to purchase it through a legitimate channel.

I suggest Steam or Humblebundle. Both are $19.99 right now.

The only reason we ask that question is that pirated versions are a no-no and most importantly have been known to have these kinds of issues.

Not knowing makes little difference and certainly doesn't change the fact that as we've said, these kinds of files are generally riddled with malware or broken. Also as said, without a steam account it makes little difference anyhow and that steam account would need to be attached to that specific game in order for it to work.
