Wondering if my cpu will bottleneck a gpu in the alienware graphics amplifier

Hey friends. I am trying to figure out if a 390x will bottleneck my cpu in my alienware the specs of my laptop are i7 4720HQ and gtx 970m 16 gigs of ram. i want to get the graphics amp and put a r9 390x in it but want to make sure i will see a good performance boost over the 970m

it's a laptop alienware 17 can run anything now

I'm pretty sure he's using a laptop as he mentioned the amp.

Just so you know using the amp is awesome but you still take a 10/15% performance decrease on whatever card you're using.

Absolutely. Should still be able to play everything current at max settings.
