(this is my build up here)

Hello, I am a first time builder, but gamer for already 10 years..

I decided that instead of buying a 3K gaming pc, I could do mine, hopefully it will work !

After a full month & half, I’ve been checking videos, reading and trying multiple « pc part buidl » to confirm the compatibility of my pc.

Now that I feel really ready.. before I start buying the parts.. I would like to confirm with some people with more experiences if my build will work (I hope I can fit everything) and that I dont mess up :/ ..

otherwise, I am fully open to new ideas or remarks, please feel free to give me your opinion!

this will be a life changer..

Thank you,

BR

ps : I already have the keyboard & mouse :)

- The Power Supply you had is a very unreliable series, definitely get something like this or other options at the budget are Corsair CX (2017), SeaSonic S12-II, etc.
- That GTX 1060 6GB is ludicrously overpriced... You can get one for almost $100 less and they're identical apart from cooler and slightly different factory clock speeds which you can change. Alternatively, i would recommend this > https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/MsWfrH/xfx-radeon-rx-580-8gb-gts-xxx-ed-video-card-rx-580p8dfd6. The RX 580 8GB is typically the faster card depending on the game, and at your budget you could easily change to an AMD FreeSync monitor to make is a solid pairing for your build.
- Changed RAM to a cheaper yet faster kit (3000 MHz vs 2400 MHz).

Finally, you don't really need that Corsair AIO, i left it for now however. On a locked CPU the stock cooler will do fine but if you really want lower temps, go for a decent air cooler or a stronger AIO as those smaller AIO don't pack much performance behind them. Hope this helps! :)

Personally I'd have gone with a more affordable cooler and RAM, held off on the SSD and made an OS partition on the HDD while waiting to afford it, and spent the $148 or so saved toward a better GPU and CPU. I mean why spend $60 for a cooler on a CPU that's locked?

GPU

CPU

Cooler

^This comes to $65 more, but is WAY better for gaming. Just add the SSD when you can, as it will only speed up OS and programs and level load times in games if you install any on it. Also, if you make the partition on the HDD for just the OS like I suggested, it will be very fast and easy to install.

This 100%.

Can you please give me a better monitor ?

I looked up.. in Canada getting more than 75ghz get mets motiror around 350/400$...

Thank you

Hello Bignastyid,

Actually I know I could maybe get -100$ if I buy through different websites.. but I really trust amazon, and I like their return policy...

When I used to put the Cryorig, they say it didnt match.. also though I read alot on the Team Vulcan, they say its a cheap brand.. for an extra bucks, I am ready to get something that will last me minimum 2 years...

Please note that I am not intersted into OC , I wont risk anything, this is my last savings that I am using, so the max budget I gave myself is 1.600$ CAD

I realised that here in CANADA prices are much higher than everybody in USA/UK..

Thank you again for your recommandations, feel free to give me your oppinion :) even if you hate on my build, I won't get mad !

I didnt buy my OS because I am not sure about the prices,

Windows sells WINDOW 10 home at 189.00$
on amazon, windows sell window 10home/pro for 99$ *looks like a scam*
I found other website, the home products at 129$

Mention of piracy removed as its a violation of forum policy tbh I am not sure yet and I need to build first my computer before getting the os, so not an emergency for the moment, thank you tho!

Btw if you know a good spot where I could get it, feel free to tell me 😉 !

What about me geting this video card.. : https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/7RKhP6/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1060-6gb-windforce-oc-6g-video-card-gv-n1060wf2oc-6gd

I dont know the one you gave me, actually I am a real begginner but I must have watched over 200/250 videos of 30-45 min of building, step-by-step, choosing parts, test parts,...

Feel free to give me your real opinion, I wont get mad, I am here to learn how to make my first build good for 2 years minimum :)

Hello CRO5513Y,

Thank you very much for taking your time to answer my post,

Do you think I can trust the website gaven on pcpartpikers ?
I mean, I feel more secure with amazon with their return policy..

I really like the build of bignastyid, I just feel that some parts may be a bit cheaper.. and I dont mind giving +30/40$ per parts, if they can run longer and long term you know..

About the Graphic Card, I went with MSI because I know they are really easy to use,(friendly use to install.. set up) dont forget I am a begginner, and the way I will build my PC will be by watching youtube videos haha, maybe another week to make it happen !

Feel free to give me your real opinion, I wont get mad, I am learning!

Hello Frag Maniac (cool ID tho)

Thank you for taking your time to answer me, I really appreciate it!

Actually I mostly choose good parts, because I hate what is cheap.. not saying it doesnt does the job, but I am not the type of guy to call customer service, ask for a refund, send my part (hopefully it doesnt happen to me this time..) but I want good quality/price ...

I wanted to go for a 1070/1070ti, but the problem is its 600$ !!!! instead of 400$, I have 200$ free to spend in cooler or anything else ... I want my pc to look a little bit good.

I am thankfull for your oppinion and idea, trust I am reading and testing everything!

Thank you again, feel free to give ideas/parts, I wont be mad :) !

MERGED QUESTION
Question from miguelitors21 : "New Builder - What is your oppinion for my build ?"

Hello everyone,

I would like to thank everybody that helped me this morning with the '' build '' I created, lucky me I didn't bought anything before having the oppinion of the pro's on this website! (I am really gratefull that this type of forus exist) (to understand, check my last question, http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3766192/wondering-build-created-work.html )

Actually, I have maximum 1 600$ CAD (Canadian market is more $$$ expensive than usa/uk/eu market as I saw on newegg/amazon)

As many people gave me ideas, I liked really one, this one : https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/W3Y7GG

Using this one, I built one, in my preference a little bit, (I have no experience.. please correct my mistake or suggest what should I replace)

This is my new build : https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/dYf4YT

I did some research, and I guess it should work, but many of you have build computers and I would like to confirm if this will be good for me, as a first builder of gaming pc.

If any of you has advises, I am 100% open to read it and use it for my build..

Also, is pcpartbuilder a trustable company ?
Because I dont feel much confortable for buying on that website, I prefer using amazon as the return policy is better and more trustable... but I have never ordered nothing for gamers online (except razer products)

And... should I just buy everything from pcpartbuilder or should I do different items on different web-sites ?

Dont forget I am from Canada :) !

Thank you for anyone taking his time to answer me, I really appreciate it, and I answer to everybody, I am really up to learn more on building pc!

Thank you again,

BR

Pcpartpicker doesn't sell anything. They just let you put together a compatible build and show the cheapest place to buy the parts.

Looks like the Team ram is no longer $185 but some Gskill is. The price of the 500Gb MX500 dropped a bit. Dropped to the H7 instead of the H5 sinbce you are not currently interested in overclocking, but with a K cpu I'd still go with a Z370 board incase you ever change your mind or want to increase possible resale value in the future.

Question from miguelitors21 : "New Builder - What is your oppinion for my build ?"

sorry, I am new on this website I thought it would be ok because of the other link ,sorry again,

I am really gratefull for the time you took to help me, thank you again!

I was just wondering your choice for my cooler, isn't the h5 better ?
Or its because as I dont OC its not needed a better cooler, meaning I could save some bucks on it ?

For the graphic card, isnt a 1070 better ? or the radeon does the same job, because you can see someone offered me almost the same build, with a 1070, but with an AMD ...

Thanks again ,and feel free to tell me to stop asking questions if I am not going no where with it, ill keep reading some forums I guess, I am a '' newbie '' and those 1600$ are mostly what I have left for the next 6 months, so I can't fail this :) thank for your support and sorry, I didn't know you were a moderator, on my cellphone it wasnt riten

The link I provided, which is a CA vendor, shows the 1070 for $550. Also, while it's true that bignastyid's build does show some better parts, it's not really better where it matters most, the GPU. An RX 580 is only about 2% more powerful than a 1060 6GB. Thus it won't really perform any better in games, except those that are extremely CPU demanding. Even more so since you're playing at 1080p.

https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Gigabyte/AORUS_RX_580_XTR/29.html

What it really comes down to is how much you are prioritizing gaming performance. Any time there are budget concerns on a gaming rig, I always advise putting priority into GPU, CPU, and RAM, in that order. It makes zero sense to get a 8600k if you're going to stick with 1060 level graphics.

Going with a i5 8400, b360 board and a 250Gb SSD you could get a 1070 in that budget.

^Exactly, not as balanced as a 8600k/1070, but better than a 8600k with RX 580. I still think spending $65 more and trimming out the SSD for now is the better way to go though. I've seen a lot of 8400 benches and where it can't hang with a 8600k is frame rate fluctuation and dips. It's not just the base clock spec that causes it either, it's quite a bit lower wattage chip, like 2/3 the watts.

^/
thank you for the correction!
so basically, I should put a bit more of $ and go with the 8600k i guess, it wont hurt that much i guess..

i mean lets keep the same build of the mod and add it the K serie

I will do exactly as bignastyid, but I would like to understand the meaning of what you telling me Frag Maniac (sorry I am french from montreal so my english isn't the best.. )
because I want to order now my computer, if you guys can look at this post later on, would be good so I can start ordering :)

Ok I got it, the SSD isnt worth ? actually i would go with only the 2tb seagate, but all the builds I see, they reccommand the SSD and mostly everybody says its better to use the ssd, the 2tb seagate is old gen memory... but its fits my budget and 2TB is really a lot of memory
