(this is my build up here)

Hello, I am a first time builder, but gamer for already 10 years..

I decided that instead of buying a 3K gaming pc, I could do mine, hopefully it will work !

After a full month & half, I’ve been checking videos, reading and trying multiple « pc part buidl » to confirm the compatibility of my pc.

Now that I feel really ready.. before I start buying the parts.. I would like to confirm with some people with more experiences if my build will work (I hope I can fit everything) and that I dont mess up :/ ..

otherwise, I am fully open to new ideas or remarks, please feel free to give me your opinion!

this will be a life changer..

Thank you,

BR

ps : I already have the keyboard & mouse :)

Solution
Honestly you could do better for the price. Here's my spin on it
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Just so you know, my quote of $65 more even going with a 8600k and 1070 is based on the vendors I listed for those parts, AND going with the RAM and Cooler on the vendor links I listed, as well as holding off on the SSD. SSD prices will continue to drop, I wouldn't worry about that. Chances are you will get a much better deal on one if you buy that a bit later.

Prioritize the parts that will get you best gaming performance to start with, and build around that. Don't forget that while a 1060 6GB may be fine for most games at max settings at 1080p for now, in a couple years it will likely take a 1070. You're going to want to get good life out of these parts. I use a EVGA 1080 SC for 1080p, and plan to wait until 4k TV broadcasts become prevalent before upgrading. I am glad I went with a 1080 because of that.

Just MAKE SURE you put a 40GB or so partition on the HDD for just the OS and drivers, and install anything else that can be on the other partition. In fact I would strongly suggest also making a 100GB partition (or whatever's right for the amount of programs you'll install), so you have the option of transferring programs to the SSD too if you want. That will require making a new shortcut for the new program install paths after doing so, which will enter them into the registry once you launch them. If tyou do this, just remember to put the same partitions on the SSD. It's easy to do that at time of OS install.

I realised a lot of the parts, and case I am being offered, are mini-atx... and I am trying to build a ATX/mid-atx.... because it would be more easy to build, as this is my first time ... i hope i dont kill myself doing this lol knowing my low patience... ahha (joke)

Honestly, the parts you picked other than the 4 ones I changed, are pretty good. I'm pretty sure you were not recommended a mini or micro case though, just the MB, and due to CAN pricing on ATX ones.

As for comparing bignastyid's Eclipse 300C to your SPEC 04, I'g go with the Corsair. Reason being, again, performance. A lot of solid front cases just don't cool as well, but even Corsair's solid front 400C cools better than the Eclipse 300C. https://www.bit-tech.net/reviews/tech/cases/phanteks-eclipse-p400s-review/3/

Expect the mesh front SPEC 04 to cool even better.

I am trying to build one regarding what you told me, but it seems complicated the last part you quoted..

Usually those are my games : BF1 - Crossfire - Fortnite (sometimes) - LoL - WoW and for sure, some video/music streaming/recording/mixing (but this is not my priority, looking for this later, when ill have more money for tools and os)

Ill show you the last build, with the atx (mid) i will go

If you mean the partitioning part you are not understanding, just make sure on the OS install when it asks you to select the install drive you enter 40000 on the partition size for the OS (roughly 40GB), and 100000 for programs if you like (roughly 100GB). Then just make sure you select the 40GB one to install the OS on.

Thank you very much, sorry I am at work, I am finishing the build and will post here so ill have your green light to order :)

Give me 10 more minutes please

thank you again for your time !

I think I will go with one of these two :

1st : https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/72XBGG

2st : https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/Zm6Vmq

Actually, on the second, I could keep the 8600K + the msi of the 1st, not too much sure ..

My big << problems << its that I am scared i am not using good parts and when I will open it for the first time, sorry for the words but, im scared to mess everything up.. so yeah tell me what you think of it, Ill order it when u approve it

I like the corsair, but I saw the strip and its look cheaps, the phanteks looks more solid, but I know Corsair is better, good name and good quality products.. so yeah I think you guys helped me so much, for sure I will always this website !

Strip? You mean the color stripe on the front? If that's a concern, the one with the grey vs red stripe seems to look more subtle. I wouldn't worry about build quality on Corsair or Phanteks. I was only referring to airflow, which is more a design than quality thing.

As for ASUS or MSI MB, either brand is good, if you want full ATX go with the MSI.

Assembly is not that hard, I'll give you a couple video links that cover assembly and OS/Driver install.

MERGED QUESTION
Question from miguelitors21 : "Positive/Negative - Before I buy the parts"

Hello everybody,

I would like to know, after a long time of searching, I finally ended with this build, before I buy it I though of asking here a last oppinion just to be sure, because it's stil about 1500$..

My build : https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/XCpvdX

Games going to be played : Crossfire/BF1/BO4/CS;GO/LoL/WoW/Fortnite
I would like to at least, play at high resolution, will it work ? Will it get too hot?

Some advises or correction before I buy will be perfect.

Thank you everybody for your time

Worry more about performance than temps. Are you living in constant 90 degree weather with no air conditioning or something?

I don't get it, you're sending us mixed signals. You were consistently talking a max budget of around $1500, now you totally changed the list and went down to $1300, yet put in a $80 cooler on a CPU you can't even OC. I thought I'd made that point clear my first post. A lower clocked, stock speed CPU that can't be OCed only needs like a $20-$30 cooler.

I thought I'd had you understanding a lot of build 101 points, but now it's like I have to start all over again. If it's mostly a budget thing, try to be clear up front what you can and can't afford. It would avoid a lot of wasted time.
