Hey,
I had to replace my motherboard due to it becoming faulty. I also bought a new CPU and RAM upgrade. I finished installing the new components earlier today and booted up the computer, only to discover that it wouldn't load past the windows logo. After some research I realised my error was not reinstalling windows to erase the previous motherboards drivers. At this point I was able to get to my windows desktop through safe mode which I used to backup data to an external drive.
To reinstall windows I used a bootable USB drive to reinstall windows, although it didnt fully erase the SSD leaving a "windows.old" folder on the drive. I was able to load into windows normally after this without the use of safe mode so proceeded to use the driver installation disc that came with the motherboard (MSI B150 Gaming M3) although this seemed to freeze when install the "Intel AMT" driver. After having to use task manager to end this installer (no progress for over 30minutes) I decided to installer the drivers for my graphics card, this was successful. However on restarting the computer once again wouldnt boot passed the windows logo screen.
At this point I assumed that the old motherboard drivers had somehow not been uninstalled so thought I would see if deleting the "windows.old" directory helped matters, however I can now no longer get into my desktop using safe mode either. I type my password in and press enter and instead of logging in, the computer restarts. I then tried reinstalling windows through the usb bootable drive however can not get passed the first screen asking what language to install in as for some reason neither my mouse or keyboard (which work fine in the bios) will work at this point. I tried different mouse and keyboard and neither of these work at this point either.
Im now pretty stuck so any help would be greatly appreciated.
