Wont Register My VGA cable is plugged in

So, when i plug my VGA cable into my latop, it works fine, not any issues, transfers right over to my monitor. When I plug it into the back of my desktop however, monitor stays black and I cant see anything. Anything I can do?

Currently I am using the intergrated graphics on my processor, as I currently am working on getting a graphics card.
