Word 2013 spellchecker

Welll I have tried all of the fixes and my Word 2013 on my Win7 Dell computer still gives me the "you're good to go" no matter how many spelling errors I have. The grammar and style checker works as I type. The only thing I have not done is to uninstall windows and reinstall it. I am a novice and I am afraid I will lose things or have to reconfigure too many things. Any advice. Please help. Steven

I have to uninstall all of office, cannot separate out word as far as I can see. Hmmmm.
