Workgroup correct in both computers, wireless lan, gets internet, but one doesn't show up on workgroup on its own, but other sees it from their view but can't access. Looks like all protocols are working, no duplicate of machine names. Both computers have wired and wireless cards. Both have been able to get on network when cabled. One is a laptop other is desk bound. What else should I be thinking?

So did you mean that the problem exists only when the laptop is wirelessly
connected and not when it's cabled up? Your mail says "both have been able
to get on network when cabled", but I'm not sure if by "network" you meant
"getting access to the Internet" or if they are able to see and access each
other on the workgroup.

Also are you running Windows XP Pro on both machines? Or does one (or both)
of them run Windows XP Home?
