Question Workhorse Laptop for work and gaming - 1000€ - New-gen or used old beasts?

Hi guys, I write because I'm on the verge of having to buy a new laptop and I'm having problems, but we're going to order.

-What use should I make of it?
Not having a recent Desktop at home, I am willing to take a laptop that is able to perform the functions I need in my studies (Master degree physics) where I use rather intense calculation programs, and I need to be able to carry out activities of multitasking as programming-compiling LaTeX articles etc. and the possibility of using it also as a game station, not that I play many titles, but I am a fan of DCS, a simulator that you will probably know, that requires rather serious specs to be played well.

-What kind of requirements do I look for?
So, I start by saying that weight and battery life are not a problem for me, as carrying 3-4 kg of laptops on my shoulders is not a problem, and a battery life of 3-4h is enough for me, as I always have electricity available, and I would play with the PC only connected to the electricity in the house, so I immediately excluded the ultrabooks, too many compromises to have a thin and light laptop with good battery.
At the hardware level I would like to take:
RAM - Almost 16 GB
CPU - i7 7th or 8th gen
GPU - GTX 1060 or up (like 1070)
Memory - M2/SSD 256GB or more

Now, my first research was aimed at new and recent products (this is important, I would like a new PC not to be older than 2018, for the used ones I can get to 2017) like the Helios predator 300, with a 1060, an i7 of 8th generation and 16GB of RAM was pretty Ok, but in Italy it has a current cost of around 1300 €, definitely too much.
Then I headed to the Asus ROG scar GL703, it had the right RAM, a good memory, the same as the Helios i7 but a 1050Ti, perhaps too little to play well at 60fps on today's heavy games, the price around € 1100.

After having also viewed the Dell catalogue with their G3s, which, unfortunately, despite the possibility of having i7 and i5 of 9th generation, offer only 8GB of RAM before a + 1300 € configuration, and a 1660Ti that would be excellent, I decided to try to take a look at the used world, I found interesting products in the Alienware world, several 15 R4 and 17 R4 with 7 7th or 8th generation, 16 or 32GB of Ram and 1070 Max Q at around 1300- € 1200, unfortunately too many for me.
I had found an M15 bought in 2019 with 1070 max, i7 8th gen, 32GB of ram and 2 m.2 from 512GB to 1000 € but unfortunately, it is most likely sold for this Saturday.
I then found an HP OMEN 17-AN005nf at around € 1130 with 1070, an i7 of 7th gen though and 16 GB of ram.

So what do you recommend?
What product do you think is suitable for my uses?
Do you believe that it should go even further back with R2 / R3 Alienware or aim for products of more recent generations even if not top-end?

Thanks anyway to everyone in advance for advice and availability.

Used gaming laptops are not recommended.

Acer Predator Helios 300 with 6 GB GTX 1660 Ti could be a great deal.

but if you're on tight budget you can consider Msi or Asus TUF series laptops.

They offer great value for money.

Dell, HP, and Lenovo gaming laptops will likely be expensive.

Configuring on the Lenovo website, the Legion Y540 with an i7-9750H, 16GB ram, screen 15.6 "144hz and 128GB of M.2 with a GTX1650 4GB would cost € 1221, similarly priced to the price of the Predator 300 with 1060 from 6GB but an eighth-generation processor and not an 144hz screen.
What do you think about it?
Unfortunately, staying in the new is not much choice with that budget.

How is it better to leave the used one alone?
For example, there is a 24 months warranty on that Omen.

Ok, maybe I found one that is perfect for the price.
New Dell G3 15:
-i7-9750H
-GTX 1660 Ti 6GB
-16 GB Ram
-NVMe M.2 512 GB

For 1099€
But, with the 22% of IVA at 1340€, so still a problem, but a better solution than the old predator 300 at 1300€

What do you think?

Compared to the old Acer Predator Helios 300, Dell G3 2019 is definitely the better choice.

and as a matter of fact, Dell G3 is one of the longest lasting gaming laptops.

but if you're on tight budget, then HP Omen 17 with i7-7700HQ and GTX 1070 could be a great deal, provided that it comes with a 24 months warranty.

To much 1340€ unfortunately.
So, i will go for a new Lenovo Legion Y540.
I take it with the new i7-9750H, 16GB of RAM, 500GB of M.2 2280, GTX 1650 at € 1100. (With a 2-year Lenovo warranty)

Only, at that price there is also the Omen with the 1070 but the old seventh generation i7, what do you think is better?
Only the Omen has the guarantee and it says that is new, but I take it from a private individual.

The Y540 is from 2019, and for the graphics card I can always take a graphic amplifier in the future, to connect.
The processor is a 9th generation, and it's more important.

Only the Omen seems to me like a higher-end laptop, isn't it?

If you can afford the Legion Y540, go for it, but if you want to save your money, get the HP Omen 17 with similar or may be better performance.

i7-7700HQ is dated but still a very capable processor.
